Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com practical and very useful contains some great tips and hints, very practical. A good book to take away camping as it is plastic coated and a small size. The recipes vary from easy one pot recipes to more involved ones which require longer cooking times. Good advice on store cupboard items. Essential camping cookbook Bought this book on recommendation from a friend. Wasn't disappointed. Gives great tips about getting organised before you go, which means you don't feel you have to take the whole pantry with you. Particularly liked the popcorn recipe - the kids loved it. Review of Camping Cook Book I bought this as a present for my camping enthusiast (adult) son. I glanced through it first and thought it well written with a nice blend of humour and information. My son and his girlfriend really liked the book and are looking forward to trying out the recipes.
It is very good value and as ever the sevice from Amazon was first class.
BG Boiled Eggs with Salt? Having been able to fend for myself for many years whilst camping, I though I would get this book based on a newspaper review to liven up my campsite cooking. What a mistake that was.
Recipes like Sticky Roast Chicken, or Butterflied leg of Lamb may result in a nice meal, but the inclusion of half a dozen "cook at home and take with you" is a bit off. Never mind the "recipes" for Boiled eggs with salt, bacon butties, potted meat and tomato sandwiches, and other such "non-recipes" make this a book to avoid if you have ever set foot into a kitchen and done more than boil the kettle.
Og. Nice recipes but not suitable for camping! This book was bought following a book review in a popular magazine - not the best buy I have made. The book is a great size and has a wipeable cover ideal for carrying on a trip but the recipes are not suitable to a camping trip.
Following the review I was excited to learn how you could cook cakes on a camping trip - you can't you have to bake before you go. Additional recipes include a number of meals which take approx. 6 hours to cook - how much gas would this take?
If you want a book just for some lovely recipes than buy it but for camping trips it is not the best.
